The South East Sussex section had a Christmas lunch at the Half Moon, Waringlid on the 19th December. A small perfectly formed turnout, great ambience, with some lovely food and plenty of chat from our well know Queen of the South.

On Sunday 17th November 2024, twenty or so East Anglia members enjoyed a voluminous Sunday roast at the Royal Oak, Barrington in Cambridge, thanks to Secretary Mark Kingstone. We had two TA21s in the car park courtesy of Chris and Magdelena Davey and Peter and Jenny Maynard, which made the writer embarrassed for not bringing his TA21.

The AOC had an excellent stand at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Car show in the ‘Hall of fame’ theme, from 8th to 11th November. The stand was very well attended by the public and AOC Members.

A well attended AGM in person and online took place on Sunday 20th October at the Walton Hall Hotel. Thank you to everyone who attended. It is always very much appreciated by the club directors and officers.

It takes more than a rain storm!! Despite torrential rain, a healthy number of SW members turned out for the annual graveside Memorial service at the pretty church at St Keverne in Cornwall. The service celebrates the brief life Captain Maurice Harvey, the most successful Alvis racing driver who, 101 years ago in 1923 was the outright winner of the JCC 200 Mile Race at Brooklands driving an Alvis 12/50 at an average speed of 93.29mph. This extremely high – profile international event was clearly pivotal in putting Alvis on the motoring map.

The monthly meeting at Denbies Wine Estate near Dorking, Surrey on Sunday 13th. A chilly morning but bright and dry for a change.

The South West Section had their autumn picnic on 21st September near Launceston. Despite the picnic title the event was blessed with a perfect summers day.

Despite some rather gloomy weather forecasts a happy band of Alvis cars turned out for the South West Sections annual Summer Picnic on Sunday 1st September, at the beautiful National Trust’s Great Chalfield Manor near Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire.

Over the weekend of 17th/18th August the Scottish Alvis Weekend took place with a Boat trip on Loch Katrine, dinner at Dunblane Hydro, Meeting at Doune.

The beginning of August 2024, already, and a busy weekend was lined up for Alvis trips. Firstly, there was Palmers Farm near Eastbourne and following that on Sunday, a very early start for the Goodwood Classic car Breakfast.
