I have kept an interest in Alvis since servicing my apprenticeship in the 1950's owning two vehicles at different times competing in hill climbs within VSCC both here and in France.

I have an additional Magneto a BTH type CE4 in working order. I also include the Redford The Vintage Alvis Manual and the Alvis 12/50 TE & TF instruction book!

I also have some workshop equipment which I have used on the Alvis which can be included FOC.
Health issues are now preventing further active ownership so my task now is to find a.new home for Arabella hopefully within the AOC.

The price guide is negotiable so as to secure her new home without too much delay.  Price £18,000.

I have owned the car for the last 35 years and during this period of time it has been subject to extensive restoration. Documentation and photographs of the renovation are available.

The car is being sold with a copious amount of spare parts to include; front axle, rear axle, steering column, gearbox, bonnet, radiator, shock absorbers, starter motor, dynamo and brakes.
I am selling the car to concentrate on future projects and require to free up space. I am asking £15,500

LAST OF THE LINE!

ALVIS 4.3 1939 WITH OFFORD-DESIGNED 3-POS. DHC BY CARLTON CARRIAGE CO.
REG No: ALV 100, Car No 20166,Chassis:14832, Engine:15317, 4396cc 6-cyl, Speedo:16,673.
The last remaining 4.3 long chassis Offord design with strikingly beautiful Carlton 3-position drophead coachwork, in its original colour of Beverley Blue with matching blue mohair roof and beige West of England wool lining. A gracious, thoroughbred car.

Of 166 4.3 chassis built, some never left the Alvis Coventry factory because production ceased on 14th Nov 1940 when the factory was bombed, and then Alvis tamed to full-scale military production.

Of the 94 cars known to survive today only 21 drophead cars were ever built. 11 were designed and built by Offord, the remaining 76 cars were bodied by Vanden Plas, Charlesworth, Mayfair Carriage Co and others.

Carlton built 2 of the DHC bodies, they more commonly built bespoke bodies for Rolls-Royce and Bentley. The other Carlton Alvis 4.3 was destroyed in 1966. This remaining car has been maintained to a high standard and retains all its original matching numbers. Originally it is reported to have been ordered by Sir Alfred McAlpine and delivered via Rootes of Mayfair on 9th June 1939.

Described by Motor magazine as the supercar of the 1930s it was one of the few cars built before the war that could exceed 100 mph, and in 1966 it unsurprisingly found its way to the USA and into the hands of three collectors, including Manfredo Liggemann in Las Vegas. During that time it won at least three concours events at the Classic Car Club of America, amongst others.

In 1992 it was repatriated by a famous Alvis Collector and extensively restored. Then it went into the hands of 3 English Collectors, finally coming onto the market in 2014, when it was recommissioned for driving by me. Since then it has won Best of Exceptional Cars in the Concours of Elegance at Circuit des Remparts, Angouleme France, has been placed at several AOC concours events and most recently came 2™ in the Owners Section of the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court.
