Kurt   The tightening schedule has slipped from what I typed ! so i hope it still makes sense as 3 rows of studs with the extreme left nos being 20,24 &22 Posted by Peter Martin 29/04/2014 08:45:57

Thank you all. Wayne Brooks had sent me a Motor Trader page with the correct sequence.  It also had tightening torque values which I found to be suspiciously feeble for a cylinder head with those size studs and nuts - 32 lbs. All my other cars, with similar size fasteners and per-cylinder capacity/power normally were tightened from 42 to 45 lbs. So, I felt it necessary to ask, and glad I did. More glad with the responses. I still find it hard to imagine that it will keep tight for the near 4,000 mile indirect trip home to Virginia from southern California.  Therefore the traveling tool kit will include all necessary re-tightening items, in addition to all else imaginable. Several stops are planned, a few of 2 days each in addition to each overnight. I have fired it up for a few moments of testing, much more to do before completion.  Cheers,  Kurt and my assistant Martin Waide.  Shall post progress and new solutions to issues as experienced. Hello All:
I am getting ready to reinstall the cylinder head on our 1960 TD21 and am confused about the tightening order. Is it published somewhere? If not, is the order in the previous posting correct? And what is the orientation of the numbers, ie: which line is the rocker shaft support row, etc?
Thanks in advance for your help?
