Access to the window winder mechanism

Hi - how do I remove the winder handle and internal door handle from the inside of the door? I want to mend the winder mechanism and the external door handle. Thanks, Mike Posted by Mikee 22/01/2014 22:28:40

Apply pressure to the spring loaded cover plate behind the handles this will reveal a retaining pin which can be driven out thus releasing the handles Posted by Peter Martin 23/01/2014 10:47:13

Sorry Mike i can't remember the detail other than it is a fiddle & a finger breaker. I did not remove the glass from its steel carrier, I think I managed to disconnect the carrier from the winder pantograph thing by undoing every bolt in the frame arrangement and sliding things around.I do remember removing a 2" wooden block in the bottom of the door so that the glass would go further down. Take lots of pictures before you dismantle anything ,also take the opportunity to replace the knackered fence  seal as you can easily get at the fixings when the glass is out of the way.
