Seat belts

I will be fitting inertia reel seat belts into my Park Ward saloon before it returns to the road. Any recommendations as to the best ones to go for - some of the aftermarket ones seem a bit 'plasticky' - and I would like something a bit more in keeping with the Alvis spirit.  Andrew Posted by tf1695 06/01/2014 19:25:38

The seat belts on my TD DHC were fitted by Red Triangle many years ago. They are secured at the top onto the bulkhead behind the top corner of the front seats and at the bottom (notably) onto a tubular metal runner that runs alongside the seats, which means they are more adjustable, they don't rub against the seats and they sit neatly flat against the bulkhead when not in use. if you get some, I'd recommend having a similar arrangement with the runners alongside the seats. My TF had seat belts fitted by Red Triangle some years ago in a manner similar to that described by Philip.  Last year I had the belts replaced by Quickfit who were able to utilise the existing top and bottom mountings thus avoiding redundant screw holes etc. The inertia reel mechanism was hidden behind the side panel with the belt emerging through a very neat slot. It's the neatest arrangement I've ever seen for inertia reel seat belts in any TD, TE or TF.  It wasn't the cheapest (about £650 if my memory serves me well) but it is very neat; I'm happy to recommend Quickfit.  Philip Posted by Philip Singer 20/01/2014 15:02:11
