If your car is original.......remove the hooded chrome rim,the exposed glass dome is retained by a lip on the rubber body of the light fitting, prise this back and try not to drop the glass and the exposed bulb (lamp) is a push fit in the rubber body which in turn is a push fit in the stepped metal bracket  which is attached to the underside of the valance usually by 2 rusty self tappers. The metal internals of the rubber body will almost certainly be corroded as will the bulb terminals and you may find that cleaning everything up including the earth wire fixes the problem, also check the loom in the darker recesses of the boot for a disconnected Lucar joint. The whole set up is not one of Mr Alvis finest and you may find it is easier to access the bracket and light fitting if you remove the bumper. Good luck Posted by Peter Martin 05/09/2012 14:14:46
