Hello Richard, Do many alternative piston sources exist for the Alvis TA-21 engines that would result in a tighter compression ratio? I do know, with other makes and in the USA, typically, a substitute piston can be located and with nominal machine work be fitted. Most times it helps keep the cost of an engine OH down to a bit more tolerable level. A second note, it is nice to do a bit of our own modern engineering with "squish" to elevate the compression while reducing or controlling the "ping". I would like to hear from owners of TA-14's and TA-21's who have gone through the motion of piston selection and the resulting performance/tuning issues with new rebuilt engines.
