Can a member advise whether the chassis and engine numbers are the same for this series as they are for the 3 litre cars? Richard Melbourne Posted by RichardWallach 04/05/2016 10:04:21

The numbers obviously differ for each chassis/engine produced. Posted by pryantcc 04/05/2016 17:36:33

Perhaps I should have said "match", eg my 3 Litre engine and chassis share the same number. Apologies for the confusion. Posted by RichardWallach 04/05/2016 20:56:42

I have been unable to find an engine number stamped on my engine. However, there is a plate that has a number on it. It's currently fixed to the bulkhead, maybe it was once fixed to the rocker cover? this plate has a number stamped into it that matches the number stamped on the chassis. Do you know if I can find the engine number on the block somewhere? I could check it for you. I'm sure there are people in the know who can tell you straight out, but, unfortunately, they may never read this. Regards, Paul. Posted by pryantcc 05/05/2016 09:35:45

When they were built Fourteens had the same chassis and engine number, as did the Three litre. With the passage of time many engines got changed and records have been kept which show most of these. A fine source of information on Fourteens is www.alvisfourteen.wordpress.com and Eileen Goddin maintains a database of all Fourteens.
