Building the rear of the body!

Hi Deane..... I haven't touched the springs at all so I don't know about that..... they seem to be like that in the Firefly manual.... it would be very low if they were upside down. Posted by FLYJCW 19/10/2018 12:34:51

John, fig.40 on page 47 of the Firefly Instruction Manual shows the shackles mounted on the rear cross rod and pointing upwards. A picture of a TL 12/60 chassis I restored is attached to show this. The front spring shackle arrangement is the other way round because the bracket is bolted to the underside of the chassis so the shackle has to point down. Posted by DeaneHarding 19/10/2018 19:15:40

Well Deane..... I need to thank you, I was moving on unknowing!  I have checked the original photo when it arrived and " blow me down"!  I haven't had them off yet so had know reason to think they might change...... wrong!  I would have torn the mudguards off if I had left them!!  I was quite pleased that the chassis stood with a nice tail up attitude...... now it is to be tail down like all Alvis ah well.  It will be 6 inches lower.  I can't find from my photos when it happened...... although I have had to throw it about bit to repair the chassis, it was on its side for a while too!  Anyway thanks again Deane for alerting me!  Regards John Posted by FLYJCW 20/10/2018 10:54:43
