speed 25 fuel pressure

Hi, I am hoping that someone will be able to tell me the correct fuel pressure between the pump and the 3 carbs, please? I am measuring just over 1psi which seems a bit on the low side! Burlen quoted me 0.75 to 1.5 psi for the pump type but is this information avaiable for the Alvis speed 25 rather than for the pumps? thanks in advance Dave Posted by DaveT 22/08/2012 19:09:43

Hi Dave, Do you have a particular problem which you are trying to cure? I have no idea what the pressure should be, but I'm curious to know what started you out on this investigation. Thanks, Paul. Posted by pryantcc 22/08/2012 20:51:58

Hi Dave T, For what iot is worth ,I have just completed restoring a 2.4 l ,6 cylinder Alvis and after having made a new tank decided to fit two dip pipes ,one at the bottom for reserve and one 20mm off the tank bottom for main supply .So far so good ,I decided to fit two new "Fuelflo" electric pumps at the rear and bypass the change over control on the bulkhead leaving it intact for the authentic look and having an 12V switch to change tanks .Receiving back three fully reconditioned carbs I found that the units seriously overflowed when the pump was turned on ,next step back to our SU specialist who said SU carbs require 1 1/2 to 2 lbs.maximum pressure (when tested my new pumps were pushing nearly 5 psi) fitted a pressure reducing regulator ,available at my local performance shop ,and screwed down to 1 3/4 psi ,problem fixed. Our car is a 1934 SG 16.95 Silver Eagle . Thank you Alan for the information which aligns with similar information I had gathered from Burlen. Posted by DaveT 12/03/2013 09:45:32
