I quote from the Motor Trader data sheet 343 of May25 1960; The car handbook also mentions what to do

"Track adjustment must be done on the centre track rod ,wheels should be set to toe out 0-1/16 in. Outer rods are now welded and are a fixed length between centres of 13.25in.."

Check that the outer rods have not been altered from the factory setting despite the welding to discourage it and remember that one end of each  rod has a a LH thread. Difficult to visualise when lying on your back under the car . They tend to be difficult to undo and you will almost certainly smash your hand into the underbody when the nuts let go.......
