Members should be aware that when installing electronic "points" like the PerTronix equipment the manufacturer recommends replacing copper core plug leads with carbon core to eliminate the problem of burning out the transistors in the magnetic sensor head.
Hope this is useful...the previous restorer of My TF 21 (sadly now deceased) did not do this and the igniter failed. I spend some time working on rotor arms, distributor caps not thinking that the electronic system could fail....they do !!
A quick test for the sensor unit is to put a voltmeter in a battery circuit with the sensor respecting the polarity of the sensor. Pass the sensor over a magnet and the voltage should go from 12 to zero to 12 to zero etc as the magnet passes the sensor head. If you get a constant 12 volt signal the sensor is kaput !! John Malin.
