I suggest we refer to the superb FBHVC reports on the new European Roadworthiness testing Directive and its effect on MOT exemption. Substantial alteration MIGHT yet result in exemption removal. No bad thing except that resulting British MOT regs changes would have to enable such altered cars to be tested. The detailed British regs reaction is awaited. I suggest embarking on a change from manual to automatic (or vice versa) could be "substantial" and might be risky at this minute. After great help from Giles Lacey I was heading to automatic but have settled down to wait and spent the money on the engine .
