Glad to see that Alvises will be well represented at this weekend's Double 12 at Brooklands. (see [url:2d1tq02t]http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/index.php?/double12/[/url:2d1tq02t]). Steven Lee and Richard Wadman in Speed 20's, Trevor Wooding in a TE21 Drophead and a virgin VSCC outing for me in the 4.3. So if you want to help intimidate those Bentleys, then do come out and support! Should be a great weekend and please stop by to say hello. Posted by fgalashan 13/06/2012 21:53:41

We had glorious weather for the Double 12 and congratulations to Richard Wadman who collected more silverware with 2nd in class after some fine driving. Had it not been for an errant hay bail attacking his running board during a test, then Richard might have repeated his class victory from last year. Here are the results for the Alvis boys:  Class C for prewar cars: Steven Lee - 1936 Speed 20 - 7th in class. Class D for postwar cars: Trevor Wooding - 1964 TE21 Drophead - 5th in class. Class K for prewar cars with actual Brooklands history - Richard Wadman - 1934 Speed 20 VdP tourer - 2nd in class.  Class K - Francis Galashan - 1938 4.3 VdP tourer - 4th in class.   My car developed a misfire after it's motorway blast down from Coventry but still managed the fearsome Brooklands Test Hill on 4 and a half cylinders (some might say 4 cylinders are all one needs in an Alvis!). Fearing head gasket issues it went home on a transporter after the event. The only consolation was to triumph over the 1936 Delahaye 135CS roadster which had dominated the 3 hour sportscar race at Brooklands in 1938 when our cars had last met - 74 years ago!  A great event and thoroughly recommended as a good compromise between "show" and "go". I believe you don't have to be a VCSS member to enter, so why not get out next year and show the world how good Alvis cars are?! Posted by fgalashan 24/06/2012 09:48:07
