Is there a trusted and tried solution to removing internal rust from engine block and head ? Has anyone experience of using molasses mixture with water to soak and remove rust ? From what I see on the Internet it works ! Michael.foy@mfservices.ie , text to 00353866086247 Posted by Michaelplunket 18/03/2015 21:52:19

Michael, Are you after a DIY instead of a commercial approach? I have found leaving it to the professionals to be the most effective long term approach. In particular the firm here in Melbourne who overhauled the head of my TA21 had the right equipment to clean the water passages. There is no way I could have achieved the same result. From that point on the engine maintains the correct temperature especially in our hot summers. With respect to the block the same approach is best, however if the internals are not to be removed then I have found that by removing the core plugs I was able to scrape the sides of each cylinder with old hacksaw blades and ordinary coat hanger wire. I feel that this will achieve a better result than using only chemicals. Richard Melbourne Posted by RichardWallach 19/03/2015 08:08:00

Hi Richard ,thanks for your reply , Unfortunately no one here seems to have a better solution other than glass bead blasting which won't get at the innards , Wil keep looking and hopefully can find solution, Best regards Michael Posted by Michaelplunket 20/03/2015 17:19:26
