Members who are interested in understanding the principles behind Lucas voltage regulators and generators may appreciate the articles available on the Triumph TR4 website at http://www.worldphaco.net/ Hugo Holden goes into detail about how we can improve the charging of our batteries by modifying our two bobbin regulators and by reversing the A1 and A leads (along with a regulator voltage adjustment) on the RB106 regulators. I would expect that this would also apply to earlier units too. This article is titled "Repairing the standard RB106". I feel that the more understanding we have of the operational paramenters of our cars the better able we are to work within their limits. As an example I have seen headlight conversions to quartz halogen for reasons that are obvious yet the vehicle charging system is left unaltered and the owners wonder why the lights do not perform as expected.
