TE 21 TRouble engaging reverse gear

My TE 21 has the original 5 SPEED gearbox and recently after standing cold for a while I find it almost impossible to get reverse. de-clutching with the ebgine running does not help however if you get it rolling backwards with a push you can get reverse. I have infarct noticed that all gears have got a bit sticky when it's cold recently . Is there simply a problem withe gearbox oil level? Is there anything that can be adjusted in the selector gate arrangement or is ther any particular item that my have worn  to be causing this problem. engaging second either up or down the box has always been a bit notchy but I put that down to a worn syncromesh which of course is not available for any re-build. Steve,  Given the symptoms you have it is worth draining the box and filling with a light grade gear oil even if not the correct grade just to ascertain whether this frees up the cogs. After a short run see if the warmth also allows for easier movement. It has been suggested by peter Martin that it might be a broken spring on the ball that sets the position of the reverse speed selector rod when in its null position. if the end of the reverse speed selector rid is not in its correct position I don't think the end of the gear lever can get into the gate on the end of the selector rod. That would certainly explain the symptoms whereby you can't even "feel" a gate to get into. I AM GOING TO CHANGE THE OIiL TO SOME DYNOLITE SAE 30.AND SEE IF I CAN PULL THE PLUG AND CHECK THE SPRING BEFORE I THEN DRIVE IT TO hHARDY ENGINEEERING WHO ARE GEARBOX SPECIALISTS IN LEATHERHEAD WHO SAY THEY HAVE RE-BUILT ONE OF THESE BOXES BEFORE OFF BOTH AN ALLVIS AND A MASERATI.
