Engine Bay Colour

Alan, In David Culshaw's book - Alvis Three Litre in Detail there is a picture of the engine bay of a TD21 on page 89. The colour appears to me to be matt black. The cars I have seen have been matt black. That said on page 79 there a red car with a red engine bay. It is quite clearly a repaint.  You may also like to do a Google images search  - Alvis TD21 engine bay - you will get number of very good images.  Personally I prefer matt black.  Regards,  Richard Melbourne Posted by RichardWallach 29/08/2018 23:11:18

I think satin black may look like you tried to paint it as original but got it slightly wrong. It’s a compromise which fails on both the criteria you describe. Personally, I think new Matt Black still looks good, especially with the gloss black rocker cover and chrome. Posted by Philip 05/09/2018 06:55:31
