Can anyone help with recommended tightening torques (if there are any recommended) for the Bell housing to engine bolts/studs , the Clutch pressure plate to flywheel nuts and the 4 large gearbox (its a ZF) to bell housing nuts ??  I was going to use washers and lock washers for all nuts and bolts does anyone know if this impacts on the tightening torques ??  Many thanks in anticipation  Peter Stage Posted by peterstage 02/01/2015 19:02:40

Peter,  Welcome to the BB.  If you don't get a reply from the members give Red Triangle a call. I have found them quite willing to give advice.  Richard, Melbourne Posted by RichardWallach 03/01/2015 03:00:43

Many thanks, but truth be told I am only masquerading as a new member and have been lurking in the woodwork for a while. I was hoping that someone had the old motor trader article that gets a mention in the posts and that it might deal with the tightening torques - I noted a bit of a difference in the Red Triangle TD21 head tightening torques on other posts and was trying to be careful.  ABW  Peter Posted by peterstage 03/01/2015 08:44:34

Peter  The said data sheets for a S1 give 17lb/ft (sic) for the the bellhousing flange . The only other details given are; head 32,mains 44,b/ends 44,flywheel 26,& manifolds 9. It is fairly easy to strip the clutch cover plate bolts /flywheel so check the threads,  Good luck ,Peter Posted by Peter Martin 03/01/2015 10:03:09

Many thanks again - the threads look ok. At present I am checking out the forks on the clutch as they have closed up a bit and needed to be opened out a tad back to 14mm. I will have to check both sides are the same height above the thrust bearing face just in case there is any distortion (I cant see any by eye).  abw  Peter Posted by peterstage 03/01/2015 15:59:17
