Alvis Salamander Mark 6 Crash Tender at the RAF Museum, Hendon
Developed by Alvis using experience gained from the Saladin and Saracen vechiles, this too was a six all wheel drive chassis with on and off road capability, as specified by the RAF. It was powered by a 260hp Rolls Royce eight cylinder peterol engine - the B81 Mark 8.
A total of 133 were built, with 88 being supplied to the RAF. This example entered service in 1958 and saw service at St. Maugan and Biggin Hill.
