Spring Lunch held at The Anchor Inn, Tintern
In April, 24 AOC members converged from the Midlands, the Southwest and Wales to our new venue for our Spring Lunch at Tintern, The Anchor Inn, which is in very close proximity to the historic Abbey ruins, as can be seen in the attached photographs. Eagle eyed Alvis folk will have spotted three interlopers in the car park. David Dobson’s daughter, Samantha brought his Jaguar XK 150, Hugh Stirling was in Candy’s 1954 MG Convertible (his Alvis was out of sorts) and Nigel Wilcox was resplendent in his 1949 Lea Francis 14 Sports in its original colour, electric blue, his Alvis also being poorly. The Lea Francis was much admired as can be seen in the photos. In total there were five Alvis cars there, 3 TD21, a TC21/100 and a TA 21 Saloon. We were allocated the Garden Room at the pub and everyone enjoyed the fayre and the views across to the Abbey, and plenty of chatter and kinship.
