Southwest Picnic
Despite some heavy rain for much of the day, some of it torrential, our annual Sumer Picnic proceeded as planned. Our venue was again the National Trusts Great Chalfield Manor, the magnificent fifteenth - century manor house and beautiful Arts & Crafts – style gardens located near Bradford on Avon, in Wiltshire.
Although only eight cars braved the conditions, seventeen having promised to attend, those of us who did turnout thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The tenant of this beautiful manor house, Robert Floyd, grandson of the original owners before it was acquired by the National Trust, very kindly allowed all fifteen of us to enjoy our picnics sheltering beneath a charming glazed veranda overlooking the rose garden. We were then treated to a privately conducted tour of the whole manor house.

Next year ... I shall really try to attend!
