Snape Maltings - A Day Out for the East Anglia Section

On Friday 9th July 2021, the East Anglia Section ventured, under the guidance of Sue and David Little, to Snape Maltings for a most relaxing day out.  Sue and David came up with the idea for a Ramble and this was their second outing which expanded into a river trip and a look around the multifarious shopping outlets in the converted disused Maltings where they used to prepare the Barley for beer making.

A quiet corner of the overflow car park was chosen to park the Alvises and set up our base camp for our social gathering and picnics.  By midday the first party was ready for the river trip. Dogs included.

The small motorboat took us through a meandering course marked out with tree branches supporting plastic bottles painted red to explore the reeds, salt marshes, bird life, and multi million pound properties along the river bank with the added commentary from our captain telling us about the history of the river, the sailing barges that used it and the dreadful floods of 1953.

Back on dry land some of us went for a walk especially to exercise the dogs and others gathered back at camp to set up for the picnic. After lunch a few of us went on a shopping spree but with some of the exclusively priced items little was actually purchased.
