Scottish Alvis Weekend 2024

SAW-1

Over the weekend of 17th/18th August the Scottish Alvis Weekend took place with a Boat trip on Loch Katrine, dinner at Dunblane Hydro, Meeting at Doune.

For some of the older, ahem, longer standing members, this revived memories. Scottish Alvis Day was held at Doune from 1994 to 1998. In those days there was a motor museum, sadly now metamorphosed into an antiques centre, but still with an excellent café. We had been allocated a field on the other side of the entrance road to that used in the ‘90s, otherwise little had changed. The line-up of cars from 1928 12/50 to 1967 TF 21 was impressive as ever, a good mixture of pre and post war models.

We were pleased to welcome some new members, some of whom went on to win prizes in the driving tests and concours alongside more seasoned competitiors. Even the weather was kind after an initial short shower. A great day out.

The weekend had begun on Saturday with a scenic cruise on Loch Katrine which this scibe was unable to attend and an excellent dinner at he Dunblane Hydro. A full write-up and results will appear in The Bulletin shortly.
