 Bicester Pop Up

At the suggestion of Dan Geoghegan and the invitation of Bicester Heritage, the AOC held a Centenary event at Bicester Heritage.

Some 75 members attended, some in period costume, along with 40 Alvises ... an almost equal number of Park Ward 3 litres and earlier models (the earliest being a 1924 12/50).

The members were divided into 3 groups and escorted around the Technical Site, where a number of elegant Alvises were on display, and introduced to some of the workshops (being careful to observe Government guidelines as to social distancing/face masks and not touching anything). Culminating in a welcomed visit to the Wriggly Monkey Brewery and a quiz set by Classic Oils – the prize of £50 worth of lubricants was won by Philip Warren in a Sp25 Charlesworth Saloon.

A picnic break in the shade enable old friends to meet and newer members to be greeted.

The day ended with a parade of Alvises, in approximate date order, around the test track which was a superb opportunity for Classic and Sports car magazine et al to take some photographs to record the event for posterity.

Postscript – the AOC organizer received a number of accolades which suggests that the day was enjoyed by all the participants greatly helped by sunshine and the cheerful assistance of the Heritage site staff (especially Alicia White the event co-ordinator). A fuller article will be written for the Bulletin.

Bicester Event

Trudi and I had a Great Day out at this event, we met lots of friends who we had not seen since 2019 and has been the only Alvis event we have been able to take the car to. The Alvis and Bicester team made it a great day out with very good sunny weather for the day
Thank You all
